Physics is often the "deciding factor" in MDCAT. While Biology is a memory test, Physics is a race against time. Here are five shortcuts used by experts to solve equations in seconds.
1. The Power of Approximation
Since calculators aren't allowed, stop using 9.8 for 'g'. Use 10. If the options are 4.9, 9.8, and 19.6, and your estimate is 10, the answer is clearly 9.8. Rounding saves at least 15 minutes across the section.
2. Unit Elimination
Before solving, look at the units in the options. If the question asks for Work (Joules) and two options are in Watts, you've already eliminated 50% of the difficulty without doing a single calculation.
3. Proportionality Logic
Master relations like F ∝ 1/r². If the distance doubles, the force becomes one-fourth. You don't need the values of constants if you know the ratio.
4. Dimension Analysis
If you forget a formula, check the dimensions. If the result must be in m/s, multiply or divide the given values until the units match.
